Warmest in the past 400 years

The 90's were the hottest decade of the millenium. I remember thinking that same thing during high school. Why was 1998 the hottest year? What changed in 1999? Did we start to realize the affects then? We are now midway through the 6th year of this decade and this report just now came out. We need to understand we have an affect on what is going on. I hope to hear that 2005 what the hottest year of this decade, but it continues to drop. Then we will know positive changes are being made.
Can we go green?

I don't think enough Americans are affected by global warming or are even educated about the subject enough to care. Saturday Night Live had a weekend update skit debating whether global warming is good or bad. Amy Poehler was arguing that global warming was good because she likes to layout when it is warm. This was a skit, but it seemed like an accurate depiction of global warming. Here is a scary fact.
Americans represent less than 5 per cent of the world's population, and yet they produce roughly 25 per cent of its carbon-dioxide emissions.
I wish we could all force ourselves to think about what we drive, when we drive or do we need to drive there? We could cut down on carbon-dioxide emmisions if we just think about what we are doing.
